The Beacon Announces Its Future Plans
The Beacon team has announced its future plans, promising an exciting roadmap to establish them as one of the leading studios in the web3 gaming space. What are these plans? Keep reading to find out!
The Future of the Beacon
Skillcap, the dev team behind the game, aims to deliver a diverse and immersive gaming experience while fostering a thriving community with a vision with multiple stages.
Stage 1: Alpha Launch and V1 Release
Skillcap’s primary goal is to guide The Beacon toward its highly anticipated Alpha launch and following V1 release. Drawing inspiration from renowned games like Hades, World of Warcraft, and Stardew Valley, The Beacon combines elements from roguelike, MMORPG, and creative games.
With this unique blend, integrated with web3 technology, the team aims to captivate players and set a new standard for web3 gaming. The Alpha release is expected in Q1 of 2024, with regular updates to keep the game engaging and highly competitive, similar to successful titles like Dota2 and Path of Exile.
Stage 2: Additional Games
Once The Beacon has firmly established itself, Skillcap plans to broaden its universe by creating additional games based on The Beacon. For example, the Moonfae collection could become the foundation for its own pet battle game.
Owning a pet in The Beacon would instantly be recognized in the Moonfae game, creating a new gaming experience. These games will stand alone but also function as extensions of The Beacon, attracting a diverse range of players and expanding Skillcap’s user base.
Stage 3: Becoming a Multi-Universe Game Studio
Looking ahead, Skillcap envisions itself as a game studio with multiple universes, similar to industry giant Blizzard Entertainment. Just as Blizzard boasts diverse IPs like Warcraft, Starcraft, and Diablo, Skillcap aims to create and manage a portfolio of successful game franchises.
The studio’s focus is on crafting engaging experiences while leveraging its existing architecture and game assets to accelerate development. Skillcap’s ultimate goal is to become a powerhouse in the gaming industry with a reputation for delivering top-quality, entertaining games.
Sunsetting the Shards System
Skillcap acknowledges the need to refine and streamline The Beacon’s current state to ensure long-term retention and engagement. As part of this process, the experimental Shards System will be sunsetted. Shards will no longer be obtainable, but players will have until July 5th to exchange their shards for items or chests in the Bazaar.
Additionally, Skillcap plans to adjust the game’s weekly cadence after the Harvester Event, focusing on preparing for the alpha launch and unveiling plans for a successful release.
Rewards
Skillcap is committed to rewarding its dedicated community of players. Those who participated in the shards system will receive trophies based on their total participation, with special consideration given to the most engaged users.
New Events, Features, and Dungeons
The studio also plans to host recurrent events, open new dungeons, and release new features for player testing and feedback. Consistent communication with the community will be a priority, ensuring players are involved in the development process and have their voices heard.
About The Beacon
The Beacon is a free-to-play fantasy action rogue-lite RPG that offers an immersive gaming experience. In this game, players venture into a new and unique dungeon with every playthrough, engaging in real-time battles against ominous monsters.
The Beacon provides three exciting modes of play: single-player PvE, co-op PvE, and an MMO–like world where players can socialize. The game is accessible on a desktop and browser.
The Beacon utilizes NFT technologies, allowing players to acquire persistent game assets through gameplay. The game is powered by the secure scaling solutions of the Arbitrum network. This will give the game faster speeds and lower costs while maintaining the same level of security as Ethereum.
You can try the game for free! But, remember that the version that you will be able to enjoy is a Demo, which means that it’s only a small taste of the actual game that the team is building.
