What is Axie Infinity?
Axie Infinity is a P2E game that focuses on digital collectible monsters called Axie (t. Players fight through various dungeons in PVE or grind up to the top of the PVP ladder in this game.
Its latest version, Origin (v3), is described as the newest working version of Axie Infinity with a spanky new interface, unique game mechanics (as far as the P2E space is concerned), varied and interesting art, special effects, engaging storylines, and an expansive onboarding experience.
Axie Infinity Gameplay
Each player can field up to three Axies in a single team, with each Axie having a different set of cards that contribute to the player’s deck. They have to think strategically to find the most optimal way to play their hand so that they can win the game; as a result, energy play is also key towards getting to the top of the Axie Infinity food chain.
It’s safe to say that Axie Infinity is not for the faint of heart. First of all, it’s a hyper-competitive game; many players endlessly grind for many hours and chase the latest meta compositions in order to pave their way to victory. Second, it’s not cheap, but then, going on a journey means that you need to have some skin in the game, right?
Getting started with Axie Infinity
It is actually easy to get started with Axie Infinity.
- Get a wallet (i.e. Metamask, Coinbase, etc.) and buy some Ethereum.
- Create a Ronin wallet. You’ll need it for managing and interfacing your transactions within the Axie ecosystem.
- in order to be able to play Axie Infinity and start earning, you have to get at least three Axies from the marketplace. While floor prices may be as low as 6 USD, you might want to spend more in order to have a relatively competitive lineup that would help you get back your investment over time.

Breeding Costs
With the onset of the so-called “P2E winter” and “crypto bear market”, breeding within the Axie ecosystem has never been easier than before – though it should be acknowledged that it’s going to be a roller coaster ride in this age.
To breed an Axie, one must have at least 0.5 AXS (~8.5 USD) and 1800 SLP (~8 USD) for a 0/7 (pure) breed as well as two suitable Axie pets. You can breed your Axies up to seven times; the cost for breeding a 7/7 breed is at around 137 USD (0.5 AXS and 30800 SLP to be exact).

How to earn money with Axie Infinity
While the normal player would gain a very small amount of money at any single instance, there’s money to be made through breeding and trade, in addition to the hypercompetitive ladder: Back in Season 21, the top player could earn up to 500 AXS (which was equivalent to somewhere between 700-1000 USD at the time), while everyone else gets diminishing sums.
It should also be noted that Sky Mavis is committed towards supporting an ever-burgeoning ecosystem of competitive players and guilds as well as content creators, streamers, and the like. As a result, these paths also serve as alternative ways to earn within the Axie ecosystem.
Given that the value of SLP is still relatively tame despite the numerous difficulties that Sky Mavis has faced over the years, it is safe to say that Axie Infinity is here to stay, regardless of what happens next within the P2E space.
